Senior Laser Dev Integration Engineer
Job Summary
- Design and develop optoelectronics devices, including but not limited to FP lasers, DFB lasers, electro-absorption modulator/laser, photonics integrated circuits and their packaged modules, as well as photonics systems such as external cavity lasers to meet design goals and requirements.
- To develop test set-ups and capabilities aligned to the company’s technology and product roadmap, and to integrate them with in-house manufacturing capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is Design and develop the DFB/FP new products ,test methodologies, set-ups, and testing plans and procedures to characterize the optical, electrical, RF, and thermal performance of optoelectronic devices.
- Perform test and characterization runs to support the test requirements of New Product Innovation, New Requirement Engineering, Request For Customization, and Product Improvement projects.
- Perform waveguide and optical coupling tests of passive components, and electro-optical tests to characterize active optoelectronic devices and photonic integrated circuits.
- Analysis of measured test results together with correlation to design requirements and simulation results to iterate towards improvement in design and performance of the optoelectronic devices and packaged modules.
- Generate test reports with measurement results and detailed analyses in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the wafer fab, assembly and packaging, design, and product teams of both in-house and outsourced partners.
Authorities
- Act as an interface between NPI Engineers, Product Engineers, and External Suppliers/Partners for creating test plans and clarifying requirements.
Qualification Guidelines
- Minimum Education
- Degree or Post-graduate degree (MSc/MPhil/PhD/EngD or equivalent) in Optoelectronics/Photonics/Electronics/Electrical Engineering/Physics or similar.
- Training in semiconductor-based light-emitting optoelectronics is preferred.
- Minimum Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ working experience with technical background in optoelectronics, optical components, and photonic device systems and sub-systems.
- Proven working experience in the optoelectronics manufacturing industry.
- Specific Knowledge / Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Programming and scripting skills and computational literacy; e.g. C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Octave, etc.
- Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills.
